Chris Golic says blocking heart aid to be added to Heads Up program

By Bill Bradley, contributing editor  USA Football plans to add Heads Up blocking and a cardiac-arrest training to its during this off-season, according to advisory committee member Chris Golic.  Golic, who also is an NFL consultant on youth football, talked about the expansion of Heads Up Football on Monday morning from Phoenix during NFL Network's "NFL AM."  "Going forward in 2015, they're going to be looking at adding to the program," Golic said. "After speaking with coaches and organizations, we've come to find out there's a need for other things besides the needs that Heads Up Football brought to the table."  The original five pillars of Heads Up Football are education and certification, equipment fitting, concu sion  Jimmy Butler Jersey recognition and awarene s, heat and hydration and heads up tackling.  The program has been adopted by more than 5,000 football organizations and almost 1,000 high schools as well as the Power 5 NCAA football conferences.  "I love to be a part of the committee and be a part of the (safety) changes that have taken place in youth sports in a relatively short period of time," saidChristine Golic, who is mom to two former college football players and wife of ex-NFL defensive lineman Mike Golic. "We're going into our third season with the Heads Up Football program in place. ...  "The numbers have grown fast, indicating that people have really been receptive to the committee and to what the program is bringing."  Wilt Chamberlain Jersey
