Jets plan after trading for Geno Smith involves ex-Eagles Vikings QB

The pulled off a big Omar Cooper Jr. Jersey  trade on the second day of the negotiating window at the start of the new league year.  According to , the Jets have traded for Geno Smith, exchanging a late-round pick-swap with the .  That's a nice move, but the Jets aren't done adding to their QB room. According to , the Jets are eyeing former and QB Carson Wentz as a No. 2 quarterback.  Jets expected to pursue Carson Wentz as No. 2 to Geno Smith  "Sources: New that the Jets have their starter (Geno Smith), they will turn their attention to the No. 2 job," Hughes reports. "Carson Wentz is squarely in the mix there."  The Jets are looking to land not just one quarterback this offseason, but multiple. Aaron Glenn is reportedly seeking three quarterbacks this offseason, two of which being veterans.  For the Jets, that means Smith would fill one of those spots, likely as the starter. Someone like Wentz, the former Eagles, Vikings, , and quarterback, is a realistic option.  More  :  Wentz has been linked to the Jets a few times this offseason, and this report from Hughes, not long after the Jets reportedly traded for Smith, reveals that the 2016 first-round pick is a strong option to come to New York.  Pairing Smith with Wentz as a backup, and a rookie quarterback as a third option and developmental QB makes the most sense for the Jets this season.  They aren't a Super Bowl or playoff contender, so adding a stable veteran QB like Smith makes a lot of sense for the Jets.
