The Birmingham Stallions established that they are still the USFL's team to beat in their season opener against the New Jersey Generals.The Stallions, who celebrated their 2022 league championship on Saturday night, were expected to get a tough test from the Generals. New Jersey's only regular-season lo s last year came at Birmingham's NHL Arizona Coyotes Men Jersey hands.Instead, Birmingham was able to cruise to a 27-10 victory, riding a dominant performance from quarterback Alex McGough.MORE:McGough entered the game on the final play of the first half after starter J'Mar Smith suffered an injury to his non-throwing hand. There is le s than a minute left in the game now and the Generals are facing a third-and-21.10:36 p.m. All of a sudden, New Jersey is moving Alex Goligoski Jersey the ball. Prukop finds Marcus Green over the middle of the field for a gain of 19 yards. One play later, however, DeMornay Pierson-El gets hurt and they are calling the cart onto the field.10:35 p.m. Prukop and Satterfield connect after their earlier mi sed connection. That gets the ball to midfield.Two-minute warning: Stallions 27, Generals 1010:33 p.m. Prukop scrambles for a first down ahead of the two-minute warning. They have a third-and-7 with 3:35 left to play after Toby Johnson jumped offside and knocked down Birmingham's center, to boot.10:23 p.m. Birmingham has done an excellent job of getting pre sure on the New Jersey quarterbacks in the second half. It marks yet another good halftime adjustment by Skip Holtz and John Chavis, who are poised to shut New Jersey out in the second half.10:22 p.m. TURNOVER ON DOWNS.The Generals had to go for it on fourth-and-3 but Johnson's pa s hit a defensive lineman and falls incomplete. That forces a fourth down for the Stallions.10:15 p.m. Mario Kempe Women Jersey Jace Sternberger made an excellent catch despite bobbling it to set up a third-and-3 for the Stallions. They call a timeout with the play clock running down. They are up 14 with 7:31 left in the fourth quarter.10:13 p.m. Now C.J. Marable is getting it going. The running back gets the ball and goes up the middle for 14 yards. The Stallions are nearing field goal range and, more importantly, are taking time off the clock.10:11 p.m. The Generals are having trouble containing McGough. He runs up the middle for 14 yards on third-and-10 after juking out a New Jersey linebacker. That gives the Stallions a first down near midfield. He gains five yards to set up a fourth-and-2. Once again, the Generals will go for it.End of third quarter: Stallions 24, Generals 1010:01 p.m. The Generals keep the ball on the ground and are once again facing a third down.
