The have reached a bit of a plateau. Can they go deeper into the playoffs with their current roster construction? The defense sure seems capable, and Darrell Evans Jersey the offense has a lot of individual talents. Maybe it'll just require a few subtle moves here and there to make all the difference. One of those moves, , might be to cut loose Juice Scruggs. Scruggs has a year remaining on his rookie contract, but the former second-round pick has fallen off substantially in his time in Houston. "Scruggs was a second-round pick in the 2023 draft but mi sed the first 10 games of his rookie season with ahamstring injury," Schatz writes. "He has been in and out of the lineup ever since -- and has yet to reach his potential. Scruggs started most of the 2024 campaign but ranked 32nd out of 33 qualifying players for pa s block win rate as a center (89.8%). His 64.3% run block win rate also was poor." MORE: That poor play referenced there led to very little action for Scruggs in 2025. "Last season, Scruggs had only one start and mostly appeared on special teams; he was a healthy scratch in one of Houston's two playoff games," Schatz writes. "Perhaps in the final year of his rookie contract another team could figure out the skills that made him a high draft pick to begin with." The premise of Schatz's article was to identify players who need a change of scenery, so he's not nece sarily saying that it's in the Texans' best interests to get rid of Scruggs. Although given the role Scruggs had in 2025, maybe it is worth Houston moving on from him now, giving his work to a different player, and potentially extracting a small bit of cap savings or an a set in return.
