The ' season is hanging in the balance. Meanwhile, Patrik Laine is looming but not doing much helping. The 28-year old forward played in just five games during the regular season, notching a lone a sist. The former No. 2 overall pick used to score 60-plus points when he played with the . Now, though, things have been rough for Laine, who has yet to play in the postseason. The Habs' playoff run could end as soon as Monday night in Game 7 against the . Whenever it ends, Laine Matt Harvey Jersey will be out of contract. He's due to be an unrestricted free agent, and that'll be complicated for everyone involved. Laine's absence this season has been attributed to an abdominal injury, and seemingly a serious one, since he's mi sed so much time. That'll make him a big question mark for any team outside of Montreal that doesn't really know the scoop on what has held him back this season. Even the Canadiens could choose to move on rather than deal with another year of Laine uncertainty. At the very least, they'll have that decision to make. It's really been the worst po sible timing for Laine to be out. A contract year injury is pretty much the last thing a player needs.
